And why do modern houses have such small, inaccessible loft space, tiny gardens and tiny kitchens. Are we being conditioned to live in smaller and smaller boxes? County and District Council planning departments have target values for population denisities per square mile, which they need to meet otherwise they are sanctioned by central government. Whatever happened to individualism of builders and buildings?
On the same subject, why is a massive proportion of housebuilding now in the hands of 5 or 6 different firms (Wimpey, Croudace, Barrett, etc.)? With the notable exception of housing co-operatives, are there no private builds any more?

Yes, this is really bad. Every new estate in the country looks the same. it's really depressing.
they work us hard, build us identicle hutches called things like 'The Kensington', or 'The St. James' Palace', with half an inch of floor space and then give us a telly for our evening escapism so we dont all tear down the metophorical walls of civilisation to reveal the cold grey breize blocks of the artificiallity of it all. Rise up brothers and sisters, let us demand more rights, lets make Prince Charles King and behead all the republicans, and get the queen (the king mother) to punch Tony Blair, while prince Philip shoots everything without a knighthood. Oooh yea baby.
