A blog of no interest to anyone apart from me. Highly egotistical. Somewhat ironic that once upon a time people kept diaries secret. Now we publish to the world, even if no-one is listening (or reading). This may include stuff on Greece, history, rugby, cricket, Health and Safety, Wales, genealogy and West Hendred. Banning scrums

Looks like the RFU will recommend uncontested scrums in al rugby. What is the point of removing a key part of rugby just so it can be a faster game. Rugby is traditionally a game for all shapes and sizes, with different skills needed as each position. Remove scrummaging skills and there may as well be 8 wings in the forwards for open play as no-one will need to push, wheel, twist the scrum, pick up at No. 8, etc.

Ludicrous.

dan said...: You are I presume having a laugh. WHINGING AUSSIES getting their way again? who won the world cup anyway. Just cos they can't use the scrum for set play doesnt mean we can't. Why don't they just go off and play rugby league?; September 01, 2006
Jonathan said...: Note that it is the ENGLISH RFU that are proposing it, and also that the French already have uncontested scrums at all amateur levels.; September 01, 2006
